Dhamma School facilitators and students set off to Pontian, Johor

Early this morning, facilitators and students from the Teenage Dhamma School in Serdang gathered at Nalanda Centre for an inspiring start to their journey to Dhamma Light Meditation Centre in Pontian, Johor. The group united in chanting and participated in a meaningful flag handover ceremony.

Youth Sunday Service team embarks on year-end training

On 14 and 15 December, the Youth Sunday Service (YSS) Programme Team gathered at Nalanda Centre for a meaningful two-day training programme. Sis. Sunandā Ong and Bro. Yeo Disheng guided the sessions which prepared the youths to serve with greater purpose and confidence in designing impactful Dhamma-based initiatives.

Hosting Indonesian monastic entourage

From 6 to 9 December, Nalanda hosted a monastic entourage from Indonesia as part of a larger group who stayed in Nalanda Centre for an Asubha workshop organised by the Academy of Silent Mentor and Sāsanārakkha Buddhist Sanctuary. The entourage was led by Ven. Ālokavaṃsa Thera and included 5 other bhikkhus (monks), 2 sameneras (novice monks), and 6 sayalays (10-preceptor nuns).

Doing good deeds at Panna Vihara Charity Fair

Since early this morning, over a hundred devotees and volunteers have been joyfully preparing and setting up their stalls at the Panna Vihara Charity Fair in Kompleks Mutiara, Jalan Ipoh.  Funds raised at the Fair will be used towards the building of the Panna Vihara Building at Bukit Puchong 2, Selangor.

Free School students show their appreciation

To conclude a fruitful 2024 academic year at Nalanda Free School, its teachers, volunteers, students and their family members gathered on Saturday 7 December for the annual Appreciation Night. With much gratitude for the School’s teachers and volunteers for supporting the students’ development both academically and morally, students put their best foot forward in performances whilst parents shared heartfelt words of thanks.

Community gathers for Pindacara

On Saturday 7 December, the community around the Happy Garden and O.U.G. markets joined the monthly Pindacāra programme, a welcomed opportunity for many.  Hosted by members and volunteers of Nalanda Kuala Lumpur branch, volunteers continued to engage more market-goers’ whose interest were piqued by the sight of so many people presenting food and requisites to the monks.

Educators gather on Nalanda Education Day

Every year, ‘Nalanda Education Day’ is celebrated on 11 December to mark the anniversary of the launching of Nalanda’s “Educational Philosophy,” which calls for a holistic approach in education leading to integral development of people.  On this occasion today, Nalanda educators from the various educational divisions gathered to review and discuss the effectiveness of Nalanda’s approach to our programmes and what principles we can incorporate to deepen the spirituality of the community.
