Nalanda leaders set off on learning trip in Thailand

Today, Nalanda leaders comprising the Management and Education teams, have set off on a 4-day learning trip in Thailand led by President Sis. Buddhini Tan.  They have just departed KLIA and are heading to Bangkok where they will travel to several monasteries to visit and pay their respects to venerable monks.  We wish them safe travels and fruitful learning on this wholesome journey.

Buddha Day preparations have started

Namo Buddhaya!  On the Vesakhā full-moon every year, Buddhists worldwide gather to commemorate the anniversary of Buddha’s Enlightenment.  At Nalanda, we are observing this year’s ‘Buddha Day’ from Wednesday 3 May to Sunday 7 May with meaningful educational and spiritual programmes comprising Dhamma talks, meditation, sutta study and special exhibitions.

Blessed weekend of hosting monks at Nalanda Centre

Just last weekend, Nalanda Centre was abuzz with activities to host members of the monastic Sangha from across Malaysia.  Members and volunteers gathered joyously to welcome, serve and learn from the monks, one of the highest blessings as expounded by the Buddha – Samanānañ ca dassanam translated as ‘sight of the holy men’.

Nottingham University students join Youth Service

On Sunday 19 March,  Nalanda Youth Centre hosted 17 students from Nottingham University’s Buddhist Society at the weekly Youth Sunday Service.  With a zeal to learn, the youths listened attentively to a Dhamma talk by Sis. Paru on how we can cultivate the five mental faculties (Pañca Indriya) to better manage the challenges in life.

Nalanda’s 20th Anniversary – ‘Making Lives More Meaningful’

In just one month’s time, Nalanda Buddhist Society will celebrate its 20th Anniversary on 1 May 2023. Established in 2003, with our name bestowed by our late teacher and spiritual adviser, Venerable K. Sri Dhammananda, we have been focussing on providing holistic Buddhist education opportunities based on Buddha-Dhamma.

Successful & united milestone 20th A.G.M.

On Sunday 19 March, members of Nalanda Buddhist Society gathered for the 20th Annual General Meeting at Nalanda Centre, Sri Serdang.  Members reviewed updates on the past year’s activities and rejoiced in the increasing numbers of programmes as the Covid-19 endemic phase stabilised.  In this milestone year for Nalanda, members also discussed the upcoming 20th Anniversary Celebrations and Buddha Day Observance, as everyone gears up to host leaders and members of the Buddhist community.

‘Happy Young Adults’ programme begins 28 March

The first session of ‘Happy Young Adults’ commences tomorrow, 28 March, at Nalanda Book Café Community Centre in Sri Petaling. Hosted by Nalanda Youth Centre, this 3-month programme is tailored for young adults to learn how to better cope with stress in life, and to excel in well-being. We look forward to welcoming registered participants to embark on this Dhamma learning journey together!

Reflections on Dhamma practice with Ajahn Pavaro

On Sunday 12 March, we were honoured to host Ven. Ajahn Pavaro at Nalanda Centre, a day after the retreat led by Ajahn at Wisdom Park.  In his Dhamma talk, Ajahn advised us to be relentless in our practise of the Noble Eightfold Path, even if we do not yet perceive the results which we expect.
