Countdown – 3 days to NEO Centre KL Officiating Ceremony

On Saturday 3 December, the community around Happy Garden joyfully participated in the Pindacāra (monks on alms-round) programme to support the Mahā Sangha.  This monthly programme, organised by Nalanda Branch KL since 2012, enables the laity in the vicinity to learn and practise the spirit of dāna even as they go about their householder duties.

In the midst of a bustling city, NEO Centre Happy Garden provides a respite from worldly distractions for us to calm our minds and train ourselves in skillful thoughts, speech and actions.  The Centre hosts the weekly group meditation sessions on Thursdays which is then followed by a Dhamma talk in Mandarin.

95th birthday of Ven. H Gunaratana

Nalanda Buddhist Society members and devotees extend our felicitations and warmest wishes to Venerable Sri Pandita Dr. Henepola Gunaratana Māha Nāyaka Thero on his 95th birthday, today! Fondly known to many as ‘Bhante G’, Ven. Gunaratana is a renowned Buddhist meditation teacher and author who dedicated his life to Dhamma propagation around the world.

On Sunday 20 November, we joyfully hosted Buddhist Fellowship Singapore (BF) EXCO and members at Nalanda facilities in the wider Klang Valley.  After three years, Nalandians warmly welcomed our good friends from across the causeway back to their spiritual home in Malaysia.

8 days to NEO Center KL Officiating Ceremony

‘Pindacāra’ (monks on alms round) was the first Dhamma programme initiated at NEO Centre in Happy Garden.  On 2 June 2012, Nalandians and volunteers introduced the wholesome practice of dāna (generosity) to market-goers and vendors in the Taman O.U.G. market, and subsequently to the Happy Garden market.

Dhamma School sets off on study tour to JB

Teenagers of Nalanda Dhamma School (NDS) have just set off towards the south for their study tour in Johor Bahru. Guided by NDS facilitators, the students will pay respects at some local monasteries and explore sites of interest there to expand their Dhamma learning. We wish our facilitators and students safe travels and an enriching journey with the support of kalyana mittas.

10 Days to NEO Centre KL Officiating Ceremony

We are now 10 days away from the Officiating Ceremony of the new Nalanda Education and Outreach (NEO) Centre in Happy Garden, Kuala Lumpur!   On this coming auspicious day, we also celebrate the 11th Anniversary of this facility, Nalanda’s first Education & Outreach Centre, which was launched on 11 December 2011 by Venerable Sri Saranankara Nayaka Thero.
