Enhancing visual design aspects of Dhamma sharing

On Sunday 20 October, members of Nalanda Dhammaduta College gathered to learn more about  the visual aspect of Dhamma talks, guided by Bro. Tan Siang Chye.  In today’s world we greatly rely on the sense of sight in learning and communicating; hence when used effectively, visual tools are an important aid in relaying the Buddha’s teachings.

Nalanda Members’ Day

Nalanda members from Sri Serdang and Kuala Lumpur Branches are invited to attend Members’ Day this Sunday 27 October at 2pm.  The meeting is an important occasion for members to get updates and discuss the Society’s latest developments, as well as upcoming programmes.  We look forward to see you this Sunday as we welcome everyone back to our ‘spiritual home’.

The blessings of giving generously

On Saturday 19 October, dozens of market-goers, stall operators and volunteers joined the monthly Pindacāra (monks on alms-round) programme at the Seri Kembangan markets.   Many of them relish this opportunity to make offerings to monastics and having prepared in advance, will keep a keen eye out for the monks’ arrival every third Saturday of the month.

Hosting Chempaka Buddhist Lodge’s Dhamma Camp

From 18 to 20 October, Nalanda hosted the Upasika Camp conducted by Ven. Chuan Wen 传闻法师 and Ven. Dao He 道和法师.  Organised by Chempaka Buddhist Lodge, more than 50 Dhamma sisters from all over Malaysia gathered to deepen their understanding of the Dhamma and practice together as a community.

Hosting Firefly Mission on study tour of Bujang Valley

From 18 to 19 October, Nalanda leaders from Serdang and Sungai Petani branch hosted Firefly Mission Singapore on their inaugural study tour of Bujang Valley, Kedah.  The group led by Firefly Mission Deputy President Bro. Arnold Lee, was warmly welcomed at Nalanda Education and Outreach Centre Sungai Petani as this yearly reunion has been an endearing tradition as part of their annual Kathina Tour to Northern Malaysia.

Lighting up the Peninsula with Dhamma programmes

In the past three days, Nalanda members and volunteers have been privileged to host 11 Dhamma programmes for over 450 people across Peninsula Malaysia!  This wonderful weekend started from Friday 18 October, with welcoming our good friends from Firefly Mission Singapore for a study tour of Bujang Valley in Sungai Petani and also hosting Chempaka Buddhist Lodge 千百家佛教居士林 for a Dhamma Camp at Wisdom Park.

Dhamma School Teachers’ Learning Day at National Camp’s 2nd Reunion Day

On Saturday 12 October, over 60 teachers and educators from 13 Dhamma Schools across the nation, joined the 2nd Reunion Day for the National Dhamma School Teachers’ Camp at Wisdom Park.  Gathering with the like-minded, the teachers supported each other in their learning led by Bro. Aggaphala Yap on how to guide students in cultivating a positive mindset and to develop strong partnerships with parents.

BPS307 participants complete final leg of the course

On Saturday 5 October, over 70 participants and volunteers gathered at Nalanda Centre for the BPS 307 (Certificate in Buddhist Studies) written evaluation.  Preparing over the past weeks by revising lecture notes and having group discussions, 55 participants sat for the evaluation, the final part of the certificate course run by Nalanda Institute Malaysia.
