75 children attending a holiday camp at Nalanda Centre had a pleasant surprise today when Ven. Sanghasena Maha Thero came to visit them. Children are close to Ven. Sanghasena’s heart as he has been working tirelessly for many years to provide education and accommodation to the underprivileged in Ladakh, India.

The teenagers, aged between 13 to 17 years, had been attending Dhamma classes throughout the year. It was wonderful to see the students so well-behaved and eager to sit for the exam. They were tested on their basic understanding of Buddhism. Dhamma School Director Sis. Sunanda was at NEO Centre to help oversee the smooth running of the examination.

Sunanda Ong conducted a Dhamma workshop for members of Nottingham University Buddhist Society, Semenyih, in conjunction with its 6th anniversary. Sis. Sunanda spoke about positive transformation, highlighting the fact that true transformation can only come about when education is accompanied by cultivation. The annual retreat was fun yet educational, and a time to review the School’s progress as well as chart its course for next year. They were tested on their basic knowledge of Buddhist scriptures, including ‘Dhammapada’ verses in Pāli Language, and devotional chanting, following 10 intensive study sessions which started in September.
