Free School students learn heritage and history

On Saturday 11 November, Nalanda Free School teachers and volunteers hosted a study trip for students around Kuala Lumpur city.  Students learned about the history of the country’s early development and some of the pioneers of the Chinese community who played a crucial role in shaping the founding ideologies of our nation.

‘Lawatan Sambil Belajar’ for JB Free School students

On Saturday 23 September, over 30 teachers, students and volunteers from Nalanda Johor Bahru Free School joined a field trip to enhance the students’ learning experience.  Guided by the adults, the trip improved the students’ awareness of conserving the environment and protecting wildlife whilst relating what they learned in the classroom with hands-on experience.

Free School teachers prepare for new academic year

On Saturday 18 March, Nalanda Free School teachers and volunteers gathered to prepare for the new school year, which starts today.  The School’s Principal Dr. Chwee Fang and Coordinator Sis. Nandini, welcomed all teachers, thanking them for their time and effort to make a difference in the lives of the students, especially those who struggle with their learning.

Best wishes to SPM candidates

Tomorrow, on Monday 20 January, over 400,000 students will start their SPM (‘O’–Level) exams, a major milestone public examination in Malaysia for secondary school students.  Nalanda wishes our Dhamma School and Free School students who are sitting for the exams as well as other candidates throughout the country – all the best!

Nalanda Free School was established in June 2010 to provide free tuition, quality teaching, personal attention, and other educational support to academically-weak and needy students.  Registration for 2022 classes is now open and will commence end March.

2020 Free School classes open for registration

Nalanda Free School was established in June 2010 to provide free tuition, quality teaching, personal attention, and other educational support to academically-weak and needy students.  Since then, the Free School operates 32 classes – 5 days a week at Nalanda Centre in Serdang, NEO Centre in Happy Garden, Kuala Lumpur and NEO Centre in Taman Johor Jaya, with 42 volunteer tutors and an enrolment of 600 students.

Honouring Free School teachers and volunteers

On Saturday 26 October, Nalanda Free School held its annual ‘Appreciation Day’ to honour all its teachers and volunteers.  As the 2019 school year has come to an end, this was also the occasion to celebrate the achievements of the students.  During the joyous event, everyone was treated to performances by students and was inspired by the wonderful sharing of some teachers.
