Turning hardwork into ‘heart-work’

On 18 September, 100 participants from the Dhamma-Living Camp for Young Adults spread out across Wisdom Park to render their service in cultivating and maintaining the campus grounds.  The youths worked hard in teams to plant trees, turf grass, and constructed a vegetable plot with positivity, harmony and a can-do spirit – not a furrowed brow was seen amidst the perspiration and weariness.  Even the intermittent rain did not dampen the spirit to keep going!

The ‘F.U.N.’ begins

Last Saturday 1 October, Nalanda Youth Centre was abuzz with activity as university students from around the Klang Valley gathered for their first session of Fellowship Undergraduate Network (F.U.N). The youths got to know each other a little better and also reflected on the value of teamwork in fun and experiential activities.  They also discussed how we can break out of our own comfort zone in order to develop more skills and hone our purpose in life.

Joyous & insightful youth camp

From 16 to 19 September, Nalanda Youth Centre hosted its fifth Dhamma-Living Camp for Young Adults at Wisdom Park in Kuala Kubu Bahru.   The 100 participants immersed themselves in learning, reflection and wholesome friendship, and experienced the simple joy of living in accordance to Dhamma.  Many participants renewed their strength and conviction to rise above worldly frivolities and live more purposefully in accordance to the Buddha’s teachings.

100 young Buddhists were fully energised by the Dhamma at the inspiring Dhamma-Living Camp for Young Adults, which concluded joyfully yesterday afternoon. A big ‘THANK YOU’ to all organisers, volunteers and participants for the great learning experience and spiritual fellowship.

Youths host Sunway University Buddhist Society

On Sunday 28 August, Nalanda Youth Centre hosted 20 students from Sunway University Buddhist Society at the weekly Youth Sunday Service. After the morning meditation and chanting, a youth forum was moderated by Sis. Lim Xin to explore how young adults can face uncertainty at different junctures in their lives.

A wholesome ‘Silver Lining’ Day

Last Sunday 7 August, 24 Nalanda youths and Dhamma School teenagers visited the Mon Refugee Children Learning Centre on ‘Silver Lining’ Day.  This programme organised by Nalanda Youth Centre, provides an avenue for young volunteers to practice kindness by offering their service to the community.

Youths & Dhamma School students learn and serve together

On 18 – 19 June, 45 Nalanda youths and Dhamma School students gathered for learning and service at Wisdom Park. Over the two days, they developed strong bonds of friendship and learnt the importance of the community in ensuring continuous learning and growth as a young adult.  The Dhamma sharings, activities and service sessions allowed the participants who ranged from ages 14 to 30 to understand the value of spiritual friendship. Participants felt great joy in learning and serving together as a Buddhist community that is rooted in wholesome values.
