Youthful support for ‘Family Fun Fair’

Throughout the past weeks, Nalandian youths have been working quietly to support the upcoming Nalanda ‘Family Fun Fair’.  The youths are very much at the forefront of this fund-raising event – volunteering to operate stalls, handle visitors, and arranging logistics. Many of them are in fact ‘veterans’ of the ‘Fun Fair’, having been involved in this annual event since their Nalanda Dharma School days.

Farewell, dear brother!

On Friday 8 August, Nalandian youths had a farewell gathering in honour of Nicholas Lee who is leaving for overseas studies.  Youth leaders Bro. Disheng and Sis. Sumana rallied youth members for a heart-warming sharing session where everyone expressed their support for Nicholas and for each other’s future plans.

National Service Trainees at Nalanda

Every Sunday afternoon from April to June 2014, Nalanda Centre hosted the second batch of 2014 National Service (NS) trainees for their Dhamma-learning Programme.  Nalanda Youths were given the wonderful opportunity to take charge of the three-hour weekly programme over 10 sessions.

Triumphant return from the United States

Nalandian Youth Lim Jie Sheng has returned to Malaysia after spending 6 months as an exchange student in Indiana, U.S.A.  In May, Jie Sheng did Nalanda proud when he became the first Nalandian to give a Dhamma talk in the United States.  After paying respects to his teachers at Nalanda upon his return, Jie Sheng handed the Buddhist and Nalanda Flags he had brought along to the U.S.A. back to Bro Tan.

After attending a dialogue session with UPM Buddhist Society at Nalanda Centre on 23 May, Bro. Sek Chin Yong, Vice President of the Young Buddhist Association of Malaysia (YBAM), made a courtesy call at Nalanda Founder Bro. Tan where they had a brief exchange on youth matters.

First Nalandian Dhammaduta to the United States

Nalanda Youth Centre is certainly spawning a new generation of passionate Dhamma messengers (Dhammaduta)!  In conjunction with Wesak, Nalandian youth Lim Jie Sheng, 18, has been invited to give a Dhamma-sharing at the Indiana Buddhist Temple in Hoagland, Indiana, this Saturday 24 May 2014.

Nalanda Youth Centre officially launched

In a simple but meaningful programme on 1 May morning, the Nalanda Youth Centre was officially launched by the Guest of Honour Bro. Goh Qing Song, President of Young Buddhist Association of Malaysia, in the presence of Ven. Sri Saranankara, other Sangha members, and Buddhist community leaders.  Also present were 200 Nalanda members and guests from Malaysia and overseas. Read more

Nalanda Youth Centre opens on 1 May 2014

Tomorrow is the official launching of Nalanda Youth Centre – the first dedicated centre for Buddhist youth activities in Serdang.  We are honoured to welcome Ven. B. Sri Saranankara Nayaka Thero, Sangha members, and Buddhist community leaders to join Nalandians in celebrating this milestone for the Malaysian Buddhist youth movement.

Nalanda Youth Centre to be launched on 1 May

After some renovation and sprucing up, the Nalanda Youth Centre will be officially launched this Thursday, 1 May 2014, in conjunction with Nalanda’s 11th Anniversary celebrations.
