Celebrating Mother’s Day at Nalanda

Celebrating Mother’s Day at Nalanda

Bro. Tong hosts the Mother’s Day celebration, leading the congregation in reflections for this gratitude day.

Yesterday, on Sunday 14 May, devotees and Nalanda Dhamma School students together gave thanks to their mothers and mother-figures for all their care and sacrifices.  Reflecting on the blessings that we have in life, much of it is owed to our first teacher and carer, our mothers, who are constantly by our side to support and cheer us on.

With thoughtful gifts made by the children themselves, students bowed before their parents in humility and gratitude.  In Buddhist tradition, parents chanted verses of auspicious blessings to wish them well and the strength to overcome all difficulties.

Families come together in service, each doing their best to serve the community.

Reflecting on the roles that our parents play in our lives.

Paying respect to our parents with understanding.

Paying respect to our parents with gratitude.

Reflections of a mother’s love bestowed on her children.

A loving hug from son to mother.

We thank Nalanda Dhamma School for organising this loving and meaningful programme to inculcate values of thankfulness and filial peity in the young generations.  Let us make every day, a day to express our thanks and love to our elders and teachers.

Enjoying the moment.

Tokens of appreciation to thank our mothers.

All smiles during the celebration.

Dhamma School teenagers performed the song “Ibu”.

Feeling joyous while listening to the performance by the Dhamma School teenagers.
