The Wesak International Film Festival (WIFF) 2015 had a colourful opening and first screening on Saturday 20 June, at the Malaysia Tourism Centre (MATIC), Jalan Ampang, Kuala Lumpur.  Gracing the occasion were members of the Maha Sangha and leaders of Buddhist organisations.  The audience was entertained with wonderful performances by local artistes Yang Wei Han and Xue Bing Jin, and Fo Guang Shan’s 24-season drummers.

Nalanda Buddhist Society, together with the Young Buddhist Association of Malaysia and Buddhist Gem Fellowship, are the three main organisers of WIFF 2015.  Ten other local Buddhist organisations are also supporting the event.

Fo Guang Shan's 24-season drummers put in a spirited performance at the opening night.

WIFF continues this weekend on 27-28 June from 10am to 10pm. You may view the screening schedule on WIFF’s website at http://www.wiff.org.my/index.php.  Admission is free, and all are welcome to MATIC for an enjoyable experience!

For the past few weeks, Nalanda volunteers had been actively promoting WIFF to the public at office complexes and local shopping malls.

Nalanda has set up an information counter at MATIC KL to assist visitors to the film festival.
