The Paralympic Games Tokyo 2020 concludes today, 5 September, after two weeks of competition. The Malaysian contingent had its best performance ever this year by winning three gold medals and two silver medals.
We congratulate our gold medallists, powerlifter Bonnie Bunyau Gustin in the 72kg category, badminton player Cheah Liek Hou and long-jumper Abdul Latif Romly, and our silver medallists, powerlifter Jong Yee Khie for 107kg category and Chew Wei Lun in Boccia individual category.
We rejoice in the sportsmanship of all the Paralympics athletes who have upheld the Olympic spirit of friendship and harmony throughout the games. Last but not least, a resounding thank you to all organisers and volunteers of the Tokyo 2020 games, who have improvised and persevered to keep participants safe amidst the pandemic. Kudos!
