The Buddha said, “If you knew, as I do, the power of giving, you would not let a single meal pass without sharing some of it.”, and through His own actions and teachings, the Buddha taught for us to understand the virtue of generosity which gives rise to inner joy. Dana (giving) is also a form of kindness and compassion practice motivated by unconditional caring for another.
The opportunity to cultivate generosity, arose at the morning markets of OUG and Happy Garden last Saturday 2 March in the monthly Pindacāra (monk on alms-round) programme. Market go-ers and stall vendors gathered to make their offerings respectfully to venerable monks as volunteers explained to onlookers this age-old tradition and its significance.
We thank the organisers, Nalanda KL Branch and all volunteers for their efforts in affording the community this meritorious opportunity. May blessings accrue to everyone who have contributed to this wholesome programme and given with pure intentions. We also invite you to join us this coming Saturday 16 March, at 8.30am for the Pindacāra at Bazar Rakyat in Seri Kembangan. May you be well and happy.
