On Sunday 26 April, Nalanda Founder Bro. Tan led Nalandians in dedicating merits to the victims of the massive earthquake that struck Nepal last Saturday. The tragedy has brought immense losses and suffering to more than a million people. To date, more than 5,500 victims were confirmed dead, with the toll expected to rise further.
On Wednesday 29 April, another dedication of merits was performed by Nalandians and devotees after their meditation session. Bro. Tan gave a brief talk about peaceful living and peaceful death, before leading the recitation of ‘parittas’.
The Malaysian Buddhist community has set up a relief fund in aid of the Nepali earthquake victims. The fund is coordinated by the Young Buddhist Association of Malaysia (YBAM) and is open until 22 May 2015. If you wish to know more, please contact YBAM Secretariat at 03-7804 9154 / 9157, or email to ybam@ybam.org.my
We urge all Buddhists to perform wholesome and meritorious deeds this Wesak, and dedicate merits to the suffering ones in Nepal and throughout the world. May all beings be liberated from misery. ‘Sabbe satta sukhihontu’!
