Dedication of merits to Victims of Misfortunes

At Nalanda Centre this morning, devotees gathered to dedicate merits to the casualties of two tragedies in the past week.  Nineteen people died in the earthquake which hit Mount Kinabalu in Sabah; and at least 406 were confirmed dead while dozens were still missing in the ferry tragedy in Hubei, China.

These misfortunes are reminders of the uncertainties and impermanence of life.  But it seems especially poignant to learn that the victims of the Sabah earthquake include many 12-year old students from Tanjong Katong Primary School in Singapore who had a whole life ahead of them; or that the Hubei ferry tragedy robbed the lives of many elderly pensioners enjoying the cruise of a lifetime.

Bro.Tan inviting everyone to reflect on the twin misfortunes, as well as to dedicate merits to the casualties and their loved ones.

Nalanda Founder Bro. Tan led the dedication of merits with a special recitation of ‘paritta’.  May the casualties of those tragedies rest in peace; and may their loved ones be free from grief.  Sotthi.
