Dhamma at the Workplace

Dhamma at the Workplace

7 October 2012

As Buddhists, it is important that we apply the teachings in our everyday lives, including at work.  Bro. Charlie Chia gave a talk on “Practising Dhamma in Our Workplace”.  He discussed the importance of observing the Five Precepts at work.  Not only will we enjoy freedom from guilt, our colleagues and business counterparts will also find us credible and trustworthy.

In the pursuit of wealth, we must also have Right Understanding.  Instead of getting attached to its pursuit, we should develop simplicity and contentment.  Bro. Charlie also encouraged everyone to pursue careers with Right Livelihood, which produce good morals and peace of mind.  We should avoid occupations and trades that cause suffering to oneself and others, but instead be involved in careers that bring benefit to all.
