Dhamma sharing in Sungai Petani

Saturday morning service starts with meditation.

The weekly Saturday morning service starts with meditation to calm the mind.

On Saturday 19 November, the Director of Pustaka Nalanda Bro. Ananda Fong gave a talk at NEO Centre Sungai Petani on the relevance of Buddhism in the 21st century.  He shared many recent scientific researches that support what the Buddha taught 2600 years ago, and proved the teachings relevant at present times.

Researchers in various fields of medicine, psychology, physics, and astronomy also applied empirical methods to put the Buddha’s words to test.  For example, Professor Jon Kabat-Zinn’s research on mindfulness had been seminal to promote its practice in western countries, especially in the United States, to combat depression, trauma and stress.

Bro. Ananda Fong was invited to talk about the relevance of Buddhism at present times.

Bro. Ananda also recommended some Pāli discourses for further studies, including the Māha-Saccaka Sutta, Upali Sutta and Vimaṃsaka Sutta.  We thank him for the wonderful sharing and visit to Kedah.  Sadhu!
