It has been exactly 8 years since Malaysia Airlines flight MH17 was shot down while flying from Amsterdam to Kuala Lumpur. None of the 298 people on board survived. The trial of four men accused of downing MH17 started in March 2020, and is still ongoing; the verdict may only be given in the last quarter of this year.
While angst and distress may build up in the hearts of many who are affected by this tragedy as events unfold, we must bear in mind that anger and hatred will not bring us peace nor let us move forward. What we can do is receive these updates with calm and empathy for all involved, and dedicate merits to those who lost their lives.
May the victims’ surviving family members have strength and courage to cope with the developments of the on-going trial. May those who perished rest in Peace.
