Nalandians acknowledging and thanking the audience at the end of the concert.

On 18 October, Nalanda Sungai Petani Branch successfully held our inaugural fund-raising event – the “Melodies for the Heart” Concert – in Sungai Petani, Central Kedah.  The concert was an unequivocal success due to the great support and generosity of many benefactors and the effort of selfless volunteers!

Young Nalandians opened the concert with the recitation of "Jaya Mangala Gatha" - the verses of joyous victory.

Our special thanks to Bro. Chiam Tiek Eng and Bro Yap Kooi Eng for proposing and coordinating this concert for our fund-raising.  We would also like to thank Sekolah Menengah Simpang Empat alumni students and other volunteers for helping with ticket sales as well as with various other duties.  We are also grateful to fellow Nalandians from Sri Serdang, Kuala Lumpur, and Johor Bahru who came to lend us their experience and assistance.

Despite the day-long downpour, more than 1,000 people turned up for the concert to lend their support.

We are very touched to see more than 1,000 people turning up at the concert despite the day-long downpour!  Some traveled from as far as Perlis, Penang, Jitra, Alor Setar, Guar Chempedak, Baling, and elsewhere to offer us their moral support.  Thank you for placing faith in us, and for supporting Nalanda’s education mission.  We wish everyone the best of health, success, peace and happiness always!

The event closed with a vote of thanks to all contributors, members, and volunteers; followed by the dedication of merits to all beings!
