Families grow closer to Dhamma at Family Camp

Everyone’s heart was full of gratitude for their family members and all who contributed to the camp.

On the long holiday weekend of 24 to 26 December,  over 100 participants and volunteers gathered for the inaugural ‘Dhamma-living Camp for Families’ at Wisdom Park.   This family camp turned into an extraordinary opportunity for parents and children to bond with each other as they explored the theme “Gratitude is my attitude”.

Over the 3 days,  campers were immersed in Dhamma learning sessions and activities tailored to the different needs of parents and children.  Having developed a better understanding of the role we each play as a family member, the ensuing appreciation for each other naturally emerged.   The heartfelt ‘Gratitude Night’ rendered tears of joy when both parents and children opened their hearts to show their thanks and love for one another.

Sis. Nandini welcomed participants and introduced the organising committee and volunteers.

Sis. Paru was the main speaker at the camp, anchoring participants in the meaning of gratitude.

Bro. Phala conducted a workshop to put gratitude into action.

Sis. Hui Shien gave a Dhamma talk for the children about their role in the family.

The children presented their reflections to the group.

With hearts full of gratitude, we extend our deepest appreciation to the organising team, Dhamma speakers, volunteers, donors and all participants for your support in making this camp a success.   May our campers continue to maintain high spirits in learning Dhamma as a family for their own well-being and also that of the society.  Sadhu!

Parents were able to discuss their reflections in smaller groups.

Throughout the camp, parents also eagerly asked questions to clear their doubts.

A forum for parents to share the journey of Dhamma learning as a family.

The children also had a forum with Dhamma School students.

The camp was anchored with morning & evening chanting and meditation.

Sis. Wei Nee guided the children in their meditation and learning.

Families learned more about one another in the outdoor activities as well.

Working together towards their goal as a family.

The children enjoyed a game of ball with their new friends.

In a game of trust, many often find pleasant surprises when they work together.

Families also worked together to perform some service at Wisdom Park.

On ‘Gratitude Night’, parents gave blessings to their children.

With understanding and love, children paid their respects to their parents.

Children presented their performance at the end of the camp.

Parents rejoiced and shared their gratitude in the final session of the camp.

Parents were very happy that their children had enjoyed the camp just as much as themselves.

We rejoice over the learning spirit of all our participants.
