Family Dhamma School’s first tea ceremony

Family Dhamma School’s first tea ceremony

On Sunday 25 February, Nalanda Family Dhamma School held its inaugural tea-offering ceremony in conjunction with the Lunar New Year. This year, we welcome 26 registered families with over 80 parents, children and facilitators come together for Dhamma learning and practice.

After communal chanting, Sis. Sadhika Tan, School Coordinator of Family Dhamma School welcomed the families and facilitators and encouraged all to support each other’s learning in this new school term with love and care.

In both parents and children’ group learning sessions, everyone enjoyed writing blessing message with wholesome aspiration and encouragement to their loved ones. The importance of contentment and gratitude in achieving family harmony are emphasised. Students are taught of importance of having gratitude towards their parents for their selfless love, care, contribution and sacrifice.

Everyone later convened for the tea-ceremony. The children sought forgiveness, expressed their love and gratitude towards parents who have cared for unconditionally by bowing reverentially and offering them tea. A simple gesture of children wiping parents’ hands melted everyone’s heart!

Families enjoyed bonding with each other while enjoying a simple lunch prepared. The session concluded with family taking photos with their hand-written Chinese calligraphy on red papers. It was a truly memorable and enjoyable day for all families and facilitators, celebrating a Lunar New Year in a harmonious and spiritual way! Sadhu anumodana.
