First Service Sunday at NEO Centre Johor Bahru

First Service Sunday at NEO Centre Johor Bahru

Bro. Tan delivering an inspiring talk on the effects of giving.

The NEO Centre Johor Bahru had a wonderful beginning last Sunday with its first ‘Service Sunday’ held on 12 May.  More than 50 Nalanda officers and devotees attended the Service which started with meditation at 9am, followed by Pūja, Chanting, and Dhamma teaching by Bro Tan.

The Pūja and Chanting session was led by Bro. Charlie Teng and Youth Leader Bro. Yeo Disheng.

In his talk, Bro. Tan taught about the four gifts one can offer to others – the gift of material things, the gift of one’s time and service, the gift of encouragement and comfort, and the gift of Dhamma.  Each of these four gifts brings about different benefits to the recipient, as well as having a different effect (phala) upon the giver.  After the Dhamma lesson, devotees were inspired to serve even better, with many volunteering to help out with various chores at the Centre.

‘Service Sundays’ will continue hence every week, starting at 9am, at the NEO Centre Johor Bahru.  All are welcome to participate in this simple yet meaningful congregation weekly to enhance one’s Dhamma understanding, and to uplift oneself spiritually.  Svagatam !
