‘Gotong-Royong’ at NEO Centre Kuala Lumpur

Enthusiastic Nalandians gathering for the clean-up at NEO Centre Kuala Lumpur and its vicinity.

On Saturday 30 May, Nalandians from Sri Serdang and Kuala Lumpur came together to give NEO Centre in Happy Garden a thorough clean-up.  The enthusiastic volunteers also cleared the immediate neighbourhood of rubbish and illegal posters.  Everyone who took part in the cleaning were joyful to work together and in the process, had also gotten to know each other better, thus creating a stronger bond among Nalandians.

A thorough clean-up indeed - even the ceiling of the Buddha-Altar was not spared!

Scrapping the illegal posters pasted on road-signs, and later washing them clean.

After the clean-up, NEO Centre looked as good as new, while its vicinity was tidy and welcoming.  Members of the public were also attracted by the Nalandian volunteers tidying up the environs, and many stopped to enquire about activities at NEO Centre.

Let us continue to share Nalanda’s spirit of teamwork and community service in reaching out to the public with Dhamma education.  Sadhu!

Many hands but with one heart make work fun and productive.

Joyful Nalandians satisfied after 3 hours of labouring for the Centre and the community! Anumodana.

‘Gotong-royong’ is a common Malay phrase which means working together voluntarily, usually in service of the community.
