On Saturday 23 November, Nalanda Volunteer Centre and Training & Enhancement Centre organised the ‘Volunteer Induction Programme’ for 30 new and regular volunteers. Facilitated by Sis. Nandinī Tan, Sis. Paruadi Ramasamy and Bro. SY Tong, the group achieved a better understanding of the spirit and culture of community service.
The resolve to be a volunteer often stems from the heart, because one chooses to use their time and effort to perform good deeds without worldly expectations. Hence, the group started with deepening their understanding of Nalanda’s education mission and motivations. In carrying out Buddhist missionary work, the group then discussed the importance of doing our roles with care, empathy and compassion, as well as dedication and commitment.
Being a volunteer is also part of our learning and spiritual journey, as we upskill ourselves, cultivate humility and kindness to serve others, together with good friends who guide us. We thank the organisers for this fruitful training programme and rejoice in the good intentions and spirit of our volunteers. May your selfless service support your journey along the spiritual path.
