Nalanda wishes Venerable Ajahns and our Thai friends a joyous Songkran Festival in the Year of the Rooster. May the coming year bring much peace, happiness, and well-being to all Thai people around the world!
Songkran celebration is traditionally connected with water. ‘Rod naam dum hua’ is a term that describes the act of pouring water over the hands of elders. This is usually performed by children symbolically to pay respects to their parents and grandparents. The elders would then give blessings and offer their best wishes for the coming year.
