Wesak Day commemorates the three-fold events in the life of the Buddha – His Birth, His Enlightenment and His Passing Away. This year’s celebration marks the 2600th Anniversary of Buddhism. It was through the Buddha’s way of virtuous living and insightful practice that he developed the true understanding to gain liberation from suffering. His lofty attainment of Ultimate Peace was taught compassionately to benefit all beings.
This year’s Wesak theme is “Being Well begins with Me!” Being well means ensuring our physical, mental and spiritual health. Let this significant day be a reminder to us to realize the Buddha’s noble teachings, and to follow in the footsteps of the Awakened One !
Nalanda Buddhist Society will observe Wesak B.E. 2556 at Nalanda Centre Sri Serdang and NEO@Happy Garden with a series of programmes, including Dhamma talks, Saõghika-dāna, pindacāra, meditation, blood donation campaign and the Buddha Jayanti Exhibition. The highlight of the observance will be a Night of Peaceful Celebration on 5 May. We welcome all to join us in the celebration and cultivation of inner peace!
