‘Happy Young adults’ learn about staying motivated at work

We thank Mr. Lok for coming to share his experience and advice with the youths.

On Tuesday 11 March, the Happy Young Adults’ Programme continued with their learning session on ‘Sustaining Motivation at Work’ by Mr. Lok Eng Hong, a corporate leader in the banking industry. Gathered at Nalanda Education & Outreach Centre in Happy Garden, the youths first reflected on factors that motivate and demotivate us at work, finding many similarities amongst themselves.

Mr. Lok shared that different aspects of our work and life affect our energy levels at work.  He encouraged us to think about our purpose and be aware of our hard and soft skills, to be able to utilise them properly.  Being aware of ourselves and those whom we work with enable us to better align our interests, capabilities and conditions to be successful at work.

Mr. Lok advised the group to become more aware of their strengths and areas for improvement.

Joyful learning with good friends

Reflections on their own siutations.

To sustain motivation at work also depends on our ability to create value as well as to build upon them towards a purposeful career path.  As we build our careers, we have the responsibility to make decisions which are not only good for today but for the future as well.  It is critical to see the bigger picture of the work and value that we can contribute.

We extend our appreciation to Mr. Lok for his advice which enabled the group to widen their horizons and thinking.  We look forward to learning together again on Tuesday 25 March with Sis. Paruadi Ramasamy.  See you then!

Asking questions to deepen their learning.

The session starts with calming down the mind.
