Hosting Ajahn Jayasaro with gratitude and appreciation

Devotees from across the Klang Valley gathered at Nalanda Centre to learn from Tahn Ajahn.

On 21 to 22 July, Nalanda members and volunteers were privileged to host Ven. Ajahn Jayasaro, during a short stopover in Kuala Lumpur, on his way to Medan, Indonesia.  Members warmly welcomed Ajahn back to Nalanda Centre, after his last visit before the pandemic began, in 2019.

At Wisdom Park, Ajahn remarked with joy, that he could see the campus’s potential to fulfil the needs of the Buddhist community for years to come.  He also shared how he felt an overwhelming sense of gratitude for his parents and the kindness of people all around the world who offered requisites and food for his physical well-being.  Because of all this support, he can walk the path of Dhamma cultivation and propagation.

The service started with evening chanting.

Tahn Ajahn said that wisdom arises when we truly understanding ordinary experiences.

“Meditation develops stability of mind and equips us with life skills which we can apply in daily life.”

Devotees had the opportunity to ask Ajahn questions about their challenges and how to overcome them.

During the evening Dhamma teaching, Ajahn pointed out that although all of us are capable of being learners, have we reflected on whether we are ready to learn?  If we are able to maintain mindfulness and observe without the influence of likes and dislikes, we will find that we can better the true characteristics within ourselves.  Furthermore, when we are better able to understand ourselves, we become more adept at understanding others leading to the arising of wisdom and compassion.

We extend our appreciation and thanks to Ajahn Jayasaro for coming to visit and guide us.  We humbly invite and hope that Ajahn can return to Malaysia for a longer period in the future so we may continue to learn from him.  May Ajahn be blessed with good health and every success in his noble endeavours.  Sadhu!

Upon Tahn Ajahn’s arrival at Wisdom Park, Sis. Nandini briefed Ajahn on the programmes and facilities at the campus.
