Hosting and learning with Sayadaw Sangharakkhita

We are grateful for the opportunity to learn from Sayadaw about harmony on Friday 4 April.

From 3 to 8 April, we joyfully hosted Ven. Sayadaw Sangharakkhita on his maiden visit to Nalanda.  Sayadaw, who hails from Korea and served as a Kammaṭṭhānācariya (meditation teacher) and Vinaya (monastic discipline) instructor for monks at Black River Monastery, Myanmar, afforded Nalanda members and devotees many opportunities to reflect on the Buddha’s teachings and cultivate the virtue of generosity over these 6 days.

In his Dhamma talk on Friday 4 April, Sayadaw shared about harmony as a factor to the building and sustenance of a Buddhist community.  When everyone carries the value of respect for each other, harmony will persist.  We do this by training ourselves to consistently carry our good intentions towards one another, extend our help with sincerity as well as communicate our appreciation for others.

Every day, members and devotees gathered joyfully to make offerings of meal dana to Sayadaw.

We are grateful to Sayadaw Sangharakkhita for taking time to come and guide us at Nalanda.  We also hope that Sayadaw will return when he has the opportunity to visit Malaysia again, and wish him the best of health and success in his noble endeavours.  Sadhu!

On Sunday 6 April, devotees had a Dhamma chat with Sayadaw.

Offering the meal with much humility.
