On the fateful day of 25 August 2009, while travelling on a charity tour to help build schools and welfare homes in Ladakh, four of our dear Dhamma friends – G. G. Tan, Julie Ang, Jennie Cheong, and Lee Ah Yem – met with a tragic road accident that caused them their lives. Today marks the 10th anniversary of their passing, and a group of Nalandians led by Nalanda founder Bro. Tan is now in Ladakh to pay special tribute for their services rendered to the Buddha-Sāsana.
Let us rejoice in our dear sisters’ faith and commitment to the Sāsana as we fondly recall their energetic efforts and selflessness as enablers of Dhamma education. We should also reflect on how we can emulate their qualities such as generosity and loving-kindness, to live a purposeful life in the limited time that we have. We request all Nalandians to dedicate merits to them; may they be free from suffering, and be at peace always. Sotthi.
