Joyful ‘Pindacāra’ in Seri Kembangan

Joyful ‘Pindacāra’ in Seri Kembangan

Devotees waiting their turns to offer food at the Seri Kembangan morning market.

On Saturday 19 July, market-goers in Seri Kembangan’s Jalan Besar market waited patiently for the start of Pindacāra (monk going on alms-round).  Many devotees were ready with cooked food in hand to be offered to monk(s) on alms-round.  It was indeed joyful to experience the atmosphere of calm and humility as people of different age groups participated wholeheartedly in this meritorious activity.

We were delighted that the monk that arrived for Pindacāra that day was none other than Venerable B. Sri Saranankara Nayaka Thero, Abbot of Sri Lanka Buddhist Temple in Sentul, Kuala Lumpur.  Despite his busy schedule with many public duties, Ven. Sri Saranankara still chose to take part in our monthly Pindacāra Programme.  We would like to thank all volunteers and devotees for participating in the Pindacāra.  May the merits acquired be shared with all needy ones.  Sadhu anumodana!

Verses of blessings were recited at the end of the 'Pindacāra' at a makeshift gathering place.
