Today (30 June) marks the last day of Achariya Vijaya Samarawickrama’s term as the second Director of Nalanda Institute Malaysia. Succeeding Achariya Vijaya tomorrow (which is also the Institute’s 7th Anniversary) is Achariya Tan Siang Chye, who is appointed to the post for a 3-year tenure.
On Thursday 26 June, a simple but meaningful ceremony to hand-over duties to the new Director was held at Nalanda Centre. At the meeting of Institute officers, Institute Founder-Director Bro. H S Tan expressed everyone’s deep gratitude to Achariya Vijaya for his 4 years of outstanding and inspiring leadership! Bro. Tan also welcomed and thanked Achariya Tan Siang Chye for accepting the appointment as Nalanda Institute’s third Director.
Nalanda Institute is an important education division of Nalanda Buddhist Society. The Institute caters to the entire Malaysian Buddhist community. It is particularly reputable in Buddhist and Pāli studies as well as in leadership and management training programmes. Bro.Tan expressed hope that the already excellent quality of Nalanda’s programmes can be maintained, or even surpassed.
Leadership renewal is a strong feature in Nalanda’s management system. The sentiment at the Directorship’s handing-over ceremony last week was both joyous and appreciative. The Institute officers gave their commitment to carry on working diligently in the promotion of Buddhist education in order to propagate Dhamma far and wide. We wish Nalanda Institute every success in its noble endeavours! Sadhu anumodana.
