On Service Sunday 13 December, Dr. Phang Cheng Kar conducted the first of two sessions of his MindfulGym Workshop at Nalanda Centre.  It is a mindfulness-based stress management programme specially designed for relaxation and wellness.  Dr. Phang said that the programme was tailored to suit Malaysians and worked well for both the secular and Buddhist communities.

He gave the definition of mindfulness as “remembering to pay attention to the present moment with kindness, beginner’s mind, and wisdom”.

At the workshop, Dr. Phang asked participants to recall moments when they were not mindful and how being unmindful had affected them.  He also taught them some simple but effective exercises to help them in their mindfulness practice.

We thank Dr. Phang for the first part of his MindfulGym workshop.  Part 2 of the workshop will be held on Sunday, 20 December.  Sadhu anumodana!
