Mandarin talk on ‘Mindfulness‘ in Johor Bahru

Dr. Yeoh introducing the topic of 'Mindfulness' to devotees.

Report by Rose Cho

On Saturday 8 November, USM Senior Lecturer Dr. Yeoh Kar Kheng delivered a talk on ‘Mindfulness’ at NEO Centre, Johor Bahru.  Devotees arrived early with much anticipation of an interesting talk.

Dr. Yeoh shared that it is a known fact that most people would spend money and time to care for their bodies but not their minds.  Mindfulness is a mental state achieved by focusing one’s awareness in the present moment.  Dr. Yeoh stressed on the importance of strengthening our minds in order to face vicissitudes of life.  He taught the ‘orange peel’ meditation and ‘mindful body scan’ techniques and encouraged devotees to practise daily.

Dr. Yeoh skillfully guiding participants in the 'Mindful' exercise.

We would like to thank Dr. Yeoh for his insightful talk and practical techniques.  Sadhu anumodana!
