It has been a month since the passing of the late King Bhumibol Adulyadej of Thailand. Thai people are still mourning their great loss of a highly-respected and much-loved monarch. On Sunday 16 October, Bro. H. S. Tan led an official memorial tribute at Nalanda Centre to His Late Majesty. In attendance were the President of Theravada Buddhist Council of Malaysia Bro. Tan Leng Huat and representatives from several Buddhist societies.
A special video tribute produced by NalandaTV was shown at the memorial service, depicting the meaningful life of the late King. Bro. Tan then asked the audience: “If a video were made of your life, what would it show? Your holidays? Shopping tours? … That would be too mundane and unworthy.”
“If a video of your life shows noble qualities… and the contributions you have made for the welfare and happiness of many people, then it would be inspiring to watch,” he added.
The congregation then meditated on impermanence, and recited Pāli verses to dedicate merits to King Bhumibol. May His Late Majesty be free from all suffering.
