Today, 17 July 2023, marks the ninth year since Malaysia Airlines flight MH17 was shot down while flying from Amsterdam to Kuala Lumpur, killing all 298 people onboard. After years of investigations and trial, the District Court of The Hague, Netherlands has convicted three people in absentia, on 17 Nov 2022.
While surviving family members may find some consolation in this act of justice, there are still on-going human rights actions being brought to the European Court of Human Rights (ECHR). Let us receive these updates with calm and empathy for all involved, and dedicate merits to those who lost their lives.
We send thoughts of loving-kindness to the victims’ loved ones, who continue to cope with their loss. May those who perished rest in Peace.
