The inaugural Nalanda Art Exhibition held at Nalanda Centre Sri Serdang over 3 days was successfully concluded at 8pm yesterday (6 October). Since its opening last Friday, a continuous stream of visitors had been coming to the exhibition, many of whom first-time visitors to Nalanda.
The Art Exhibition was officially launched by Datin Seri Kee-Mah Ming Yuet on Saturday, 5 October. Bro. Tan at the same occasion, spoke about the importance of art-education in deepening one’s cultural awareness and roots. Art can also be a conduit to spiritual insights; it can transcend the boundaries of ethnicity and religion to effect positive changes in the wider world.
This exhibition was a joint effort by Nalanda and well-known art curators Syed Nabil Syed Nahar and Sharifah Nor Akmar of NN Gallery, to help raise funds for a special documentary on Buddhism – “A Journey of Self Discovery”. The documentary will be produced by Yg. Berbahagia Datin Seri Kee-Mah Ming Yuet, and directed by Yang WeiHan. Filming of the documentary in India and Nepal will begin next year.
Level 4 of Nalanda Centre was magically transformed into a beautiful art gallery.
A total of 38 artworks by 25 Malaysian artists were on display. Visitors were truly delighted by the artists’ creative interpretations of the theme ‘A Journey of Self Discovery’. We thank all of them for contributing their time and effort to this event.
Our deepest gratitude as well to Datin Seri Kee-Mah Ming Yuet for being our Guest of Honour and the inspiration behind the entire event; to Syed Nabil and Sharifah of NN Gallery for their unstinting support; and to all benefactors, visitors, volunteers and Nalandians for putting up such a fine, memorable, and successful exhibition! Thank you all!
