Nalanda Youth Centre under renovation

Nalanda Youth Centre under renovation

Project Leader Bro. Eugene Yong leading senior Nalanda officers on a tour of the proposed Nalanda Youth Centre on 15 December.

Nalanda officers attending an education workshop at Nalanda Centre were brought on a tour of the proposed Nalanda Youth Centre, located just next door to our present premises in Sri Serdang.  The facility has been under renovation since last month, and is slated for completion by January 2014.

The proposed Youth Centre will cater for the increasing activities of Nalandian youths, especially in hosting undergraduates’ fellowship, Dhamma discussions, and Service Sunday.  On weekdays, the Youth Centre will be used for Nalanda Free School classes.

Senior officers including Nalanda President, Deputy President, and the Fund-raising Team members were present to give their support and encouragement to the youth leaders.

The Nalanda Youth Centre will have a shrine hall, a Youth Library and discussion room, 2 classrooms, and an office.  It will add 2,000 square feet of valuable space to Nalanda’s facility, providing more room for expanding our educational programmes.  Currently, Nalanda Centre is operating above its carrying capacity, with 700 to 1,100 users in an average week.

We hope that the Buddhist community and general public will lend a hand in contributing towards the renovation costs of the Youth Centre, estimated at around RM118,000.  Let us support the learning, development, and growth of the future leaders of our community by donating towards this noble cause.  Thank you.
