Nalanda Buddhist Society marked its 15th anniversary celebration on 1 May 2018 with flowing gratitude towards all our teachers, spiritual guides, benefactors, supporters, members, volunteers and devotees from near and far.
Early yesterday morning, members and devotees gathered at Nalanda Centre to honour our teachers, and paid respects to our late Spiritual Adviser Venerable K. Sri Dhammananda (1918 – 2006), who gave our Society its name. The attendees then gathered in the Dhamma Teaching Hall on Level 4 to perform Pūja, chanting, and meditation.
Nalanda founder Bro. Tan gave an insightful talk on how to achieve “flowing gratitude” – a condition of the mind that brings about a continuous stream of joy and happiness. He said that happiness is not to be found somewhere out there, but it is to be experienced in our minds.
The anniversary celebrations, known here as “Nalanda Day”, was made the more significant with the presence of Ven. Sri Saranankara Nāyaka Thero and Ven. Phra Maha Ajahn Phocana from Mahachulalongkorn University in Thailand. Ven. Saranankara also launched the 15th Anniversary Commemoration Plaque before accepting the offering of lunch dāna.
We would like to thank everyone heartily for your kind presence at yesterday’s celebrations, as well as for the congratulatory messages from fellow Buddhist organisations headed by the Theravāda Buddhist Council of Malaysia. Thank you all for the kind support and assistance given to us over the past 15 years! May the Buddha-Sāsana long endure.
