On Saturday 30 April, a new batch of elected office-bearers took their ‘pledge of service’ in a simple ceremony at Nalanda Centre, Sri Serdang. In total, 33 Management Committee members from Kuala Lumpur, Johor Bahru, and Sungai Petani branches (11 from each branch) were elected in early March this year; 26 of them attended the installation ceremony witnessed by the Society’s leaders, Board of Management members, and senior officers.
Nalanda founder Bro. Tan said that to be elected as officers of the Society is an indication of trust placed upon us by the membership. He urged all officers – both elected and appointed – to make full use of their terms of office to enhance personal cultivation and leadership qualities.
Nalanda President Sis. Evelyn Chow also welcomed the new branch officers and promised to work closely together with everyone to organise educational programmes and facilitate Dhamma propagation.
In Nalandian tradition, the newly-elected officers stepped forward when called, and pledged to cultivate themselves earnestly, while serving the larger community joyfully. Congratulations to all newly-elected office-bearers on your installation. May you continue to grow spiritually, and lead by example with personal integrity and wisdom. Anumodana.
