Celebrating 15 years of holistic education

Nalanda youths host exchange group from Estonia

From 28 to 30 December 2019, Nalandians were very happy to host Venerable Thitañana, founder of the Estonian Therāvadā Sangha, the Venerable Thitamedha, and nine youths from the Baltic country at Nalanda Centre for an exchange programme.  The group had also visited other Southeast Asian countries including Thailand, Cambodia, and Singapore to learn about Asian culture and the Buddhist way of life.

Happy 15th Anniversary to Nalanda Dhamma School

The School started here in Sri Serdang with 40 students on 2 January 2005, in a small house previously known as Nalanda House just across the road.  The name “Nalanda” means ‘the giving of knowledge and wisdom’.  Hence the School aims to continue the noble tradition of providing quality and holistic education to the younger generation of Buddhists, by imparting them with the necessary knowledge, skills, and most importantly, religious and moral values.

Hosting Ajahn Viradhammo and Ajahn Pavaro

On Monday 30 December 2019, Nalanda Centre was honoured to receive Ajahn Viradhammo and Ajahn Pavaro to Nalanda Centre.  Arriving in Sri Serdang in the afternoon, Nalanda officers and members warmly and respectfully welcomed venerable sirs.  Deputy President Bro. Charlie hosted venerables for a tour of the Centre and K. Sri Dhammananda Centre which have both changed significantly since their last visit here.

Inspiring journey through India and Nepal

From 14 to 28 December 2019, 68 pilgrims embarked on ‘Buddhayatra’, a spiritual journey to India and Nepal led by Nalanda founder Bro. Tan.  A ‘Buddhayatra’ is not a sight-seeing tour but a journey of faith with insightful learning, reflection, and spiritual growth, as we retrace the path taken by our Enlightened Teacher 26 centuries ago.
