‘Selamat Berpuasa’

The month of Ramadhan starts today as Muslims fast daily from dawn to dusk.  This practice of restraint, modesty, and renunciation is not just with regards to food, but also concerns conduct, speech and thoughts.  Nalanda wishes our Muslim friends a blessed Ramadhan Al-Mubarak filled with peace, harmony and joy.  ‘Selamat Berpuasa’ dan Salam mettā.

New Board of Management installed

On 1 May ‘Nalanda Day’, the new batch of elected office-bearers took their ‘pledge of service’, in a simple ceremony at Nalanda Centre, Sri Serdang. The new Board was elected at the Society’s 16th Annual General Meeting held on 17 March, with nine out of eleven members retained.  Bro. Vincent Lee and Bro. Pee Che Yong retired from the Board after serving two continuous terms, with much appreciation from members.

Welcome home to all Nalandians

This morning, Nalanda members are travelling from Johor Bahru, Sungai Petani and all corners of the Klang Valley to congregate at Nalanda Centre Sri Serdang for the 7th National Members’ Convention which starts today.   The event which will run for 5 days, will culminate with the celebration of Nalanda’s 16th Anniversary on 1st May, Nalanda Day.  We wish all members safe travels and look forward to welcome you back to our spiritual home.

Compassion in Action

On 21 April, Datuk Charlie Chia delivered a Dhamma talk on ‘Compassion in Action’ at Nalanda Centre.  He described that one who has compassion, cannot bear to see the suffering of others and will do what they can to help.  Those with compassion experience freedom from feelings such as anger, hatred and jealousy because compassion itself is a strength of character and also gives strength to those in need.
