A spiritual and joyful ‘Dhamma Day’

On Sunday 26 July, devotees gathered at Nalanda Centre to observe ‘Dhamma Day’.   ‘Dhamma Day’ commemorates the preaching of Buddha’s first discourse after His Enlightenment – the ‘Dhammacakkappavattana Sutta’ –  where He taught His first five disciples the fundamental teachings of the ‘Four Noble Truths’.  As the day signifies the preaching of Buddha’s first discourse, Bro. Tan led devotees in reciting the famous ‘Dhammacakkappavattana Sutta’.

Weekly Meditation and Dhamma Sharing

On Wednesday 22 July, devotees earnest in learning the Dhamma, gathered at Nalanda Centre for their weekly group meditation practice.  After the sitting meditation, Sis. Santi shared about the “The Removal of Distracting Thoughts”, quoting from Majjhima Nikāya (MN 20) – Vitakkasanthāna Sutta”.

NDS Facilitators – Parents Meeting

On Sunday 19 July, Nalanda Dhamma School (NDS) facilitators and parents came together at Nalanda Centre for a meeting to update on students’ progress.  Director of NDS, Sis. Sunanda Ong emphasized the importance of inculcating faith (in the Buddha-Dhamma) in our children. Read more

Alms-round at Sri Petaling & Happy Garden Markets

On Saturday 4 July, the monthly educational ‘Pindacāra’ Programme at Sri Petaling and Happy Garden markets was held with two venerable Sangha members going on alms-round.  The devotees and volunteers welcomed Nalanda Founder Bro. Tan and Exco members, Bro. Charlie and Bro. Pee at NEO Centre Kuala Lumpur.  The programme started at 7.30am with the morning Pūja and chanting session led by Bro. Tan.  Thereafter, volunteers and devotees proceeded to Sri Petaling and Happy Garden for the alms-round.

Service Sunday & Memorial Service for MH17

On Sunday 19 July, in conjunction with the memorial service for MH17, Sis. Tan Yee Yong presented a Dhamma talk titled “Finding Peace in Turmoil”.  She shared a few stories and her personal experiences which inspired devotees.  Sis. Yee Yong elaborated on ‘Impermanence’ and the ‘Four Noble Truths’, quoting the ‘Ambalatthikā-rāhulovāda Sutta’ of Majjhima Nikāya.

Bodhi Heartz Youth Club visits Nalanda

On Saturday 18 July, 35 members from Bodhi Heartz Youth Club paid a visit to Nalanda Centre, Sri Serdang as part of their tour to the Klang Valley.  They were warmly welcomed and hosted by Director of Nalanda Centre, Sis. Nandini and Nalandian Youths.

‘Family Fun Fair’ Pre-sales have started

The much-anticipated ‘Nalanda Family Fun Fair’ on 9 August is just 2 weeks away!  There will be more than 120 stalls offering a wide variety of food, beverages, household items, clothes, handicraft and merchandise for sale.  The ‘Fun Fair’ aims to raise funds to finance many community-based educational programmes run by Nalanda Institute, Dhamma School, Free School, the Library, and Youth Centre.  It is the only fund-raising event for Nalanda Sri Serdang this year.

Service Sunday with Sis. Santi

On Sunday 12 July, devotees were delighted to have Nalanda Founder, Bro. Tan’s presence during the morning Service. He gave a short teaching on the significance of taking refuge in the ‘Three Jewels’. Bro. Tan also advised us on how we can protect ourselves by being mindful and having disciplined thoughts.
