Read moreSaturday 31 October was Group Assignment Presentation Day for participants of BPS 303 – Buddhist Studies course. It was the ‘grand finale’ to a 10-session course which began on 4 July. The participants were divided into 11 groups and they had two options to choose from. The first option was to conduct a survey to find out how much Buddhists themselves understood Buddhism, and the second was to take part in an activity which reflected the ‘Ten Wholesome Deeds’.

Read moreOn Sunday 1 November, 50 students aged between 13 and 17 years old sat for the annual Nalanda Dhamma School examination. They were tested on their basic knowledge of Buddhist scriptures, including ‘Dhammapada’ verses in Pāli Language, and devotional chanting, following 10 intensive study sessions which started in September.
Read moreOn Saturday 17 October, Nalandian youths organised a lunch dāna for two venerable monks from Sentul Sri Lanka Buddhist Temple who had been invited to go on Nalanda’s monthly educational ‘Pindacāra’ (alms-round) in Seri Kembangan. Although this was the first time the youths were taking on the responsibility, they were eager to put into practice what they had learned in the Youth Centre.

They were warmly greeted by Nalandians who made them welcome and gladly took them around the centre. Ayya Susīlā and the visitors then met with senior Nalanda officers for a genial discussion on the Society’s operations and educational activities.
