On that fateful morning, a massive earthquake triggered an equally ruinous Tsunami – causing immense loss of lives throughout coastal areas rimming the Indian Ocean. Led by Nalanda Institute’s Director Achariya Tan Siang Chye, the group of 40 Nalanda Institute officers and students were privileged to be guided by Bro. H S Tan through the archaeological and historical sites in and around Sungai Petani.

After the alms-round, the venerables adjourned to NEO Centre Happy Garden for lunch dāna. Ajahn Sujato from Australia was later invited to deliver a Dhamma talk to the congregation there.

Fong updated members on the proposed building plans for NEO Centre Sungai Petani with beautiful slides. They briefed members of the procedures ahead – to obtain members’ approval for the plan and thereafter to call tenders.

They were warmly received and hosted by Nalandian youths. The group spent 4 hours touring the facilities including Nalanda Youth Centre, Youth Library, and the Main Reference Library.
