During last weekend’s Nalanda ‘Family Fun Fair’, we were touched by our Kelantanese friends who came from so far by train, bus and plane to support the event! An advance party of 8 devotees came to camp at Nalanda Centre for 2 days to help with the preparations. And they did not come empty handed – together they brought along 2,000 pieces of home-made ‘tao pao’ (a local Kelantanese delicacy), 50kg of various fruits, and 300 coconuts!

Work is progressing rapidly on the upper floors of the building, with the Level 4 Dhamma Hall gradually taking shape.

Read more25 August marked the 5th anniversary of the passing of our dear friends Sis. G G Tan, Julie Ang, Jennie Cheong, and Lee Ah Yem in an accident in Ladakh, India. Nalandians marked the solemn occasion by gathering for pūja, chanting and a Dhamma sharing by Sis. Sandy Lim at Nalanda Centre last night. Today we shall perform Sanghika Dāna and share merits with the departed sisters-in-Dhamma. Wherever they are, may they be well and peaceful. Sotthi.

Read moreThe Nalanda ‘Family Fun Fair’ was concluded successfully at 5pm on 24 August. More than 6,000 patrons turned up to enjoy a fun day out with family and friends at Nalanda Centre. The heavy downpour which came towards the end of the Fair did not dampen the high spirits and strong camaraderie as everyone was happy working selflessly and tirelessly towards a noble cause.

The field at Taman Sri Serdang in front of Nalanda Centre was a hub of activities with more than 1,000 lunch-time crowd sampling a huge variety of delicacies on offer. The 160 stalls were doing brisk ‘business’ as many items on sale were quickly snapped up. Despite its large scale, the atmosphere in the field felt like that of a friendly village market!
