“Mass Food Offering” on Wesak Buddha Day

A “Mass Food Offering” for the public will be held on Wesak ‘Buddha Day’, 13 May, from 12.00pm to 1.30pm at NEO Centre Johor Bahru, and from 5.30pm to 6.30pm at Nalanda Centre Sri Serdang.  Every year, kind-hearted devotees prepare food to share and serve the public out of generosity and humility.  Everyone who comes will be served with respect and loving-kindness.

Wesak Observance begins at Nalanda Centre

The 3-day Wesak Observance programme began in earnest at Nalanda Centre this morning. Since 7 am, devotees have been streaming into the centre in Sri Serdang.  The first official programme of the day was the morning Buddha-Pūja (offerings), meditation, and chanting, followed by a Dhamma Talk by Bro. Charlie Chia.

BPS 0323 – Course on “Correct Practices, Faith, and Devotion”

The third module of ‘Buddhist Devotional Practice’ course conducted by Mr. Vijaya Samarawickrama saw another good turn out on Saturday, 3 May.  Achariya Vijaya emphasized the importance of faith in Buddhism.  He said that faith is the intellectual and emotional conviction to understand and to practice the Dhamma-Vinaya.  As practice progresses, understanding deepens and gradually develops into spiritual realization, which results in even greater faith.

The Tragic Mystery of MH370

Today is exactly 2 months since the mysterious disappearance of a Malaysia Airlines Boeing 777 in the early hours of 8 March, while on a routine flight from Kuala Lumpur to Beijing.  Despite intensive efforts by a multi-national and multi-disciplinary team of experts, no trace of the missing airplane has been found so far.  The enigma of flight MH370 continues to bewilder the whole world.

Nalanda Officers visit Tzu Chi Indonesia

In conjunction with their official visit to Jakarta at the invitation of Buddhist Fellowship Indonesia (BFI), Nalanda Founder Bro. Tan, officers led by Bro. Tong Siong Yeow, and their host the BFI Committee, visited Tzu Chi Foundation’s newly-established centre in North Jakarta.  They were met at Tzu Chi by the country’s head of operations, Bapa Hong Tjhin.

“Taking Refuge” Ceremony on Buddha Day

Nalanda Buddhist Society will be organising a “Taking Refuge” Ceremony on this Wesak Buddha Day, Tuesday 13 May, starting at 9.30am.  In this meaningful programme to be held at Nalanda Centre, devotees come together to seek guidance and refuge in the Three Jewels – the Buddha, Dhamma and Sangha – and to observe the Five Precepts faithfully.
