On Saturday 9 November, several senior Nalanda Officers attended a ‘People-Engagement Workshop’ organized by the Buddhist Community Alliance (BCA). The BCA is a loose alliance of 5 Buddhist organisations in the South Klang Valley. Nalanda President Bro. Lee Kong Foo is currently the rotating Chairman of the alliance.

Read moreThe monthly Pindacāra Programme at Taman O.U.G. and Happy Garden morning markets was joyfully undertaken on 2 November with the most Venerable B. Sri Saranankara Nayaka Thero leading three other monks on the alms-round. Monthly Pindacāra there has been running continuously for 18 months and it has attracted a loyal and devoted crowd of supporters, besides inspiring more new donors every time. On Sunday 3 November, Nalanda Centre welcomed several groups of visitors, both monks and laity. In the morning, we received senior officers from the Olympic Council of Malaysia (OCM) – Vice President RAdm Dato’ Danyal Balagopal Abdullah (Rtd) and Treasurer Mr. Yong Choo Kong. They were met by Bro.Tan and brought around for a building tour. Also at the meeting were Datin Seri Mah Ming Yuet and Bro. Chim Siew Choon, President of Theravada Buddhist Council of Malaysia.

Read moreIt's the 'Kathina' season whereby the laity are offering alms and requisites to the Sangha members who completed another ‘annual rains retreat’ (Vassana). The Nalanda Johor Bahru Team is happily taking part in several such celebrations in Johor. On 20 October, the team was at Santi Forest Monastery in Ulu Tiram for its Kathina Day. On 27 October, the team headed to Dhamma-Light Meditation Centre in Api Api, Pontian, for the celebrations there. Next the team will be going to Santisukharama in Kota Tinggi for its Kathina Day this Sunday. Sadhu anumodana!
