True Significance of Wesak

On 11 & 12 May, an introductory course to explain the true significance of Wesak was held at Nalanda Centre in Sri Serdang and NEO @ Happy Garden respectively. Wesak Day commemorates the Birth, Enlightenment and Passing Away of the Buddha. These events took place on the full-moon day in the lunar month of Vesākha. This year, in Malaysia, Wesak Day is observed on 24 May.

Nalandians Celebrate Our 10th Anniversary!

1 May 2013 was a special day for all Nalandians as we celebrated the Society’s 10th Anniversary! This milestone was significant as we recognised the growth and success of Nalanda as a Buddhist education provider over the past decade. Nalandians also aptly reflected with immense gratitude and appreciation for all the support, contributions and voluntary services by many devotees near and far, who have helped to forge Nalanda, in order for it to become the excellent facility that it is today. The Venerable Teacher’s visit

From Nalanda’s Archives – In the year 2000, Sri Serdang hosted a visit by eminent Buddhist and Pāli Scholar, the Most Ven. Dr. K Anuruddha Nayaka Thero, the first Vice-Chancellor of the Buddhist & Pāli University of Sri Lanka.  The Venerable was highly respected for his vast learning in the Tipitaka and erudite teachings.  Ven. Anuruddha was also Bro. Tan’s Pāli teacher.  Bro.Tan and the Sri Serdang community were overjoyed when the Venerable teacher took time to visit them, and to encourage them in their learning and practice.
