Over the weekend, Nalanda Centre received three official delegations from local Buddhist Societies in Selangor – the Tiratana Buddhist Society Klang, Shah Alam Buddhist Society, and Putra Heights Buddhist Society. The purpose of these visits was to understand Nalanda’s set-up, especially our educational philosophy and programmes. The visitors were very keen to learn about Nalanda’s success in attracting and retaining the participation of Buddhist youths.

Read more10 May was a pivotal milestone for NEO Centre Johor Bahru. After 2 months of renovation, the Centre was finally ready to host its Buddharupam in the Shrine Hall. Members and devotees of Nalanda JB respectfully welcomed the Buddharupam to the Centre in a simple yet meaningful ceremony led by Bro. Tan. It was also the New-moon Uposatha Day marking the start of Vesakha (Wesak) month. Hence, the installation of the Buddharupam on that day was most timely and appropriate.
Read more4 May 2013 marked the first anniversary of Nalanda's Monthly Pindacāra (alms-round) Programme at the Taman O.U.G. morning market. Devotees and volunteers gathered for the morning chanting and invocation at NEO Centre Happy Garden to calm their minds and reaffirm their wholesome aspirations before embarking for the alms-round with the venerable bhikkhus.
Read moreOn 11 & 12 May, an introductory course to explain the true significance of Wesak was held at Nalanda Centre in Sri Serdang and NEO @ Happy Garden respectively. Wesak Day commemorates the Birth, Enlightenment and Passing Away of the Buddha. These events took place on the full-moon day in the lunar month of Vesākha. This year, in Malaysia, Wesak Day is observed on 24 May.
