Buddha Day Volunteer Briefing

We welcome all ‘Buddha Day’ volunteers to attend the Volunteer Briefing at 1pm this Sunday 12 May, at Nalanda Centre.  The briefing includes an introduction to the Buddha Day programmes from 21 to 26 May, and familiarisation of your roles with the team leads.  We extend our thanks to you in advance for stepping forward to play a part in this auspicious event and wish you happy service!

Join us for Buddha day programmes at Nalanda (B.E. 2568)

Today is the start of the holy Wesak month and in just two weeks time, Buddhists around the world will be commemorating the anniversary of Buddha’s Enlightenment.  This year’s Buddha Day Observance at Nalanda carries the theme of ‘Peace Begins with Me’, and we invite you to come explore how we can cultivate and strengthen serenity within so that harmony and goodwill can abound around us.

Joyful giving during Pindacāra

Last Saturday 4 May, the community at the O.U.G. and Happy Garden markets partook in the meritorious deed of giving in the monthly Pindacāra (monks on alms-round) programme.   Often on the look-out on the morning of the first Saturday of the month, market-goers and stall vendors prepared their offerings generously, with the sincere intention of doing good.

Celebrating 21st anniversary on Nalanda Day

On Wednesday 1 May, Nalanda Centre was a sea of grey as over 85 members gathered to celebrate the 21st anniversary of Nalanda Buddhist Society.  President, Sis. Buddhini Tan thanked all members for their support, highlighting that together, members have organised more than 30 impactful Dhamma educational programmes over the year-long commemoration of the Society’s 20-year milestone.

Sri Jayanti Buddhist Institute Dhamma Camp at Wisdom Park

From 27 to 28 April,  Sri Jayanti Buddhist Institute held their Family Dhamma Camp 2024 at Wisdom Park, a campus built by the Buddhist community for the Buddhist community, with the participation of over 60 Dhamma School teachers, students, parents and volunteers.

Completion of Sutta Study in Mandarin

On Saturday 27 April, over 100 participants and volunteers of the Sigalovada Sutta (Digha Nikaya 31) Study Course in Mandarin completed their final session at all three Nalanda Branches in Kuala Lumpur, Johor Bahru and Sungai Petani.
